I thought I would learn Bolton's reasoning behind decisions and actions, understand better what options were on the table, what principles of world relationships, cooperation, problem solving were involved ... but found a writer caught up…

I read about 50 pages and thought that was enough as I didn't expect the book to improve. It's a shallow, rambling account of events wherein the author strokes his own ego but no one else's.

I'm not a right wing Republican but I enjoyed John Bolton's book. It is tedious and boring because it's a behind the scenes peak at the inner workings of the Trump Adminsitration. Bolton is a Washington insider with lots of experience. …

The Room Where It happened was an interesting book to say the least. It delved deep into all the errors and problems within the Trump Administration and Bolton even talks about how hard it was for him to be Trump’s National Security…

The Room Where It Happened by John Bolton is the book in which John Bolton tells his story about his tenure as the national security advisor. In each chapter, he covers a different story on topics such as Russia, China, North Korea, and…

Decent book, first hand account of working with Trump from a conservative from the Bush41 era. Bolton's account comes off as genuine and accurate, and in this account Trump comes off as a dip sh*t. I dislike Bolton less than I did before,…

Too much Bolton, and not enough new reveal about life in the Trump administration. He should have testified not withheld this information

I really tried to read this book straight through but it is just not possible! So, I then tried reading it in chunks, but didn't too do well then either. He just starts in the middle of stories and if you know nothing of the area or…

Bolton is almost as pompous and bellicose as Trump himself. Couldn't get past 50 pages it was so boring. Bolton tries to reference some classical and other well known material to make himself look a lot more intelligent than he really is.…

Oh my God. I made several attempts at reading this book, but it was like eating cardboard. A waste of 20 bucks. Although I'm sure that he had a point or two to make, it got lost in his wordings and self admiration. This is a half star…

Maybe worth reading just to understand Bolton's very conservative world view, but the book is not an easy read. Fog index rates the grade level of a book based on length of sentences and complexity of words. I did not do the math but…

Publishers Weekly couldn't have said it better. A very boring book full of self praise and criticisms of just about everybody else.

John Bolton, who is a hard core conservative republican, who was Donald Trump's National Security Adviser. Who has quite the ego also. Described in detail, the scary events involving Donald Trump's decision making, as with the other…

I too gave up after 100 pages and then just scanned it. Bolton forgets who was actually elected President. He must have a HUGE ego - he is telling how he told the President what not to do throughout the book. Give your advice and…

You only need to read the first chapter of this book. Every chapter has the same pattern - 1) Trump is disorganized, 2) I gave him the right advice and he didn't heed it, 3) everything Obama did is wrong. After reading about 200 pages in…

Like everyone else I slogged through this book determined to finish it. It was the most difficult book I’ve ever read in my long life. And I’ve read everything from The Wind in the Willows to Decline of the Roman Empire. All the way…

Like other readers, I too tried to get through this book. I just couldn't. The first sign that it wasn't an honest retelling of what happened came in the first few chapters where Bolton said the president was vindicated. Say what? From…

Dreadful book! just awful. Turned it back in w/o reading much. If he had not made such a flap about not testifying, nobody would be interested for good reason.

The author may have been in THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENED, but there’s very little new in this book that’s not already been written about the Trump administration. John Bolton should’ve testified and saved Americans the grief of having to…

I tried, REALLY tried, to slog through this book. Just couldn't get past Bolton's snarky, self-serving ego.

He certainly fleshed out many of the news events that we knew about. I wish he would have testified before the Senate but even with his information, I'm not sure those spineless Republicans would have let it influence their votes. It…

Bolton studied at Yale, as I did, so I was not surprised that his memoir is so detailed at 500 pages plus many pages of footnotes to support his statements. He is a lawyer as well as a national security specialist, so also not surprising…

I have the same opinion as the comment below by GinaMarguerite except I’m reading front row at the Trump show next
