Ugh! No redeeming qualities!! Unpleasant characters.

Dull, monotonous, slow-moving series. Even the small attempts at humor were dreary at best. The writing and character acting were poor and the characters portrayed as half-wits. I sat through 3 episodes and couldn't take it any longer. Dawn French acts like a clueless adolescent. She can't understand what she's done wrong and can't seem to control her over-enthusiastic and poorly timed desire to "make it right" with everybody. The whole premise of someone exposing several families' darkest secrets and then the same people revealing even more information to the person who exposed them in the first place is too far fetched and ridiculous. There just wasn't enough context to keep me interested as the story line droned on and on. They seemed to rely too much on the beautiful Devon and Cornwall coasts; even that cannot save such a poorly thrown together series. Dawn French was great in the Vicar of Dibley, but this show is a huge disappointment.

Couldn’t finish it, the small town gossip struck a negative chord.

I gave this 4 stars for acting and scenery. Dawn French is always wonderful played Maggie the main character who gets into trouble from drinking too much while being interviewed. After making some indiscrete, but truthful comments Maggie is ostracized by her BF, and other villagers. In a small town she bumps into all the aggrieved constantly. I will say the story was not realistic in letting her barge over to talk with the people immediately, instead of a cooling off period. Also, her continual obsessing over her blunder to her poor husband, and family made her look very self absorbed, and obtuse. The actress who plays the barmaid was lovely, quite funny , and the break out star. I hope to see more of her in other shows.

3.5* Ok series. I do like this type of quirky British humor and drama type series.

Really a misogynist show. Gossiping woman being judging to all her friends and acquaintances, for being a single, having a suspicious behaving husband, slut shaming a beautiful young girl, etc. Then the finale reveal, a spinster secretly tried to snatch her husband. An ugly piece made under a beautiful cover.

Sweet, exciting in places, and insightful. Well acted throughout. A tale of failure and redemption. I was really surprised at how well it worked out. I doubt there'll be a second season, but there is possible room for something ...
