I hate a protagonist who talks to the camera.
The director should film the whole movie without the protagonist talking to the camera.
She should've written a play instead of this screenplay.
Apparently, she's meant to be disgusting but funny. But, without subtitles, the funny bits are lost and we're left with only....
Not sure why it won so many awards, really disappointed.
I've waited my entire life to find a protagonist I can relate to and although Phoebe Waller-Bridge didn't write Fleabag just for me, that's what I'm telling myself. Someone somewhere has written exceptionally and extensively about why this is the freshest television today (as is Michaela Coel's "I May Destry You"), so go read those reviews and then come back and read this: BINGE BINGE BINGE. Like, make some snacks, get comfortable, turn off your phone, and check out. Beautiful, hilarious, sad. Several times I found myself holding my breath. I cried when it ended. All the best to you on your Fleabag journey!
Loved it - only 6 episodes and it went by in minutes - can't wait for Season 2 and the "hot priest". Nothing better than British comedy/drama.
Didn’t like what I saw at all.
I agree with the comment that we need CC or we may miss all the witticisms in these episodes. I was not quite sure what to expect...it was comedic but then took some very dark turns. Just like life! I am eagerly awaiting Season 2.
DVD needs closed captions for my old ears.
Fleabag talks to the camera frequently, letting audience in her self-awareness to those flummoxed actions on screen. Coming from an unorthodox single white-woman who engages with cringey sex partners. her monologues are often outside the box, humorous, and caught me off guard. On the other hand, behind sunny dispositions, she is saddled with deep insecurities and regret. Excellent original script and Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a natural fleabag noun [C] (PERSON/ANIMAL). UK informal. a dirty and/or unpleasant person or animal.
It's very raunchy, and that may turn some people away; but if you can deal with that kind of thing it's a fantastic series.
