Gave up on this after five episodes. It was fun seeing various Dickens characters realized and having them interact outside their original novels. The main plot was the murder of Jacob Marley, but the detective story just seemed to consist of moving from character to character as the main suspect and then exonerating them. The subplots were extremely dreary and plodding. A good idea - needed a better script.

Truly wanted to enjoy this all, but only made it 26 minutes through the initial episode. I've a failing that I cannot watch shows for long when there's no one with any moral compass present in the storyline. Aside from the Cratchits and Honoria, everyone in the show that we saw was reprehensible.

While I knew many of the characters going in, it's overwhelming at the start. Because of that, my wife refused to watch further and thus I never got to see more of this show (for good or ill).

Just wonderful. A joy to watch Stephen Rea again.

Loved it! So many of Dickenson's characters all intertwining into a great storyline. So many little stories going on at the same time, yet the "Detective" ties them all together! Wonderfully done!

I watched this sometime ago, just found it again. This was well done and great intertwined story, I hope you enjoy.

This mash-up of several of Charles Dickens stories was a great and imaginative concept. Characters from Bleak House, A Christmas Carol, Great Expectations and Oliver Twist as well as many others populate this story of murder and betrayal.

Watched the whole series. Some parts were boring, others parts intriguing. All in all kind of a downer type of show. I wouldnt watch them again.

I feel like anyone would enjoy this, but if you are a Dickens fan, this is a great series! Seeing Miss Havisham BEFORE she was crazy, and Lady Dedlock when she was still Honoria Barbary, alongside the Cratchits, and Inspector Bucket, investigating the death of Jacob Marley, and consulting with Valentine! It is sad, knowing the futures of these people, except Scrooge and Tiny Tim, that is. This series is delicious and I hope Tony Jordan does another one! I now want to re-read all of these main stories- and the few that I hadn't and characters I had to look up. (PS- Mrs Biggetywitch is NOT from a Dickens story, but it is testament to Jordan that she is so Dickensian! Ha!)

Characters from different stories are brought together in a clever, inventive story. Well done and fun. Hope there will be a continuation, there’s lots of scope.

Mystery, love, deceit, betrayal, sacrifice, compassion...it's all there and more, in new but familiar stories.
