Some Stories
Audiobook CD - 2017 | Unabridged
A collection of 17 short stores by two-time Oscar winning actor Tom Hanks. The stories are linked by one thing: in each a typewriter plays a part: sometimes minor, sometimes central. A gentle Eastern European immigrant arrives in New York City after his family and his life have been torn apart by his country's civil war. A man who loves to bowl rolls a perfect game-- and then another and then another and then many more in a row until he winds up ESPN's newest celebrity, and he must decide if the combination of perfection and celebrity has ruined the thing he loves. An eccentric billionaire and his faithful executive assistant venture into America looking for acquisitions and discover a down and out motel, romance, and a bit of real life.

I was shocked to learn that some people didn't like these. I was very impressed and am strongly recommending them. Please do the audio version. I think Tom Hanks did a fine job representing his work. Don't miss the last one. There is a full cast and it's particularly fine.
Tom Hanks shouldn't have read his stories, there's no emotion when he reads. I finished the first disc and brought them all back to the library.
I thoroughly enjoyed this collection of short stories written by Tom Hanks. I am not usually a reader of short stories, but these were very entertaining and made even better because I listened to the audio version, read by Tom Hanks. If it had been a novel, I would probably have given it 5 stars.
I really enjoyed hearing these short stories in Tom Hank's voice, in some ways it made his cadence more real. The stories were great and I loved the mix of science fiction and contemporary works. Having the theme be something as simple as a typewriter is ingenious.
I usually don't go in for short stories, but these were perfect.
Tom, this was a complete failure. I listened to parts of 3 discs What a disappointment. 8 discs too much for this patron.
