My True Love Gave to Me is the kind of anthology that I would want to come back to again and again just for the love of it. An anthology is generally only as good as its worst story and here there was a good story after good story and even the ones that didn't quite hit the mark for me were still good by most standards. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

12 different love stories all set around the holiday season. Each short story is written by a different author, each with their own characters. It's nice because there is a wide variety of celebrations like Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice or New Years. A great book to read around the Holiday season! Rating 4 out of 5 stars.
The stories I enjoyed were:
-Angels in the snow
-Polaris is where you'll find me
-It's a yuletide miracle charlie brown
-Your temporary Santa
-What the hell have you done Sophie Roth
-Beer buckets and baby Jesus
-Welcome to christmas CA
-Star of Bethlehem
The stories I didn't enjoy as much were:
-The lady and the fox
-The girl who woke the dreamer
- @Fallenangelhushhush of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library

Normally, I give short story collections a 3/5 because there are some I love and some I don't and it's a good middle road rating. However, this collection was the right amount of cheesy and filled with holiday spirit. I will say I might be biased because I read it during the holidays but it put me in the perfect spirit. Especially in a year when I was working up to Christmas and wasn't quite in the mood for holiday cheer. This was the perfect solution.

This holiday favorite was full of twelve short stories, it was diversified with love. Last year, I enjoyed Let It Snow and now... this! It was a great Christmas book that connected me to life and my reading journey often, the last one The Girl Who Woke a Dreamer was as mindblown as Stardust. Midnights - the characters were around my high school class. The Lady and the Fox - it was a more cozy Christmas story - same as 2am @ the Cat's PJs and It's a Wonderful Life combined. Krampuslauf made me want to check out the Krampus film DeviantART highly encouraged/recommended us to, it reminds me of Prep. The catsitting story Angels in the Snow... I've never read it prior to this. It's a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown - hmm... not bad. Your Temporary Santa - one part that was so relatable: I was twelve when it was a final time for Santa to come to our house. What the Hell Have You Done, Sophie Roth? - I've read the author's If I Stay 2-Parter prior to this because NYC is probably one of my all-American destinations to go to. Beer Buckets and Baby Jesus - um... sorta reminds me of Tallendega Nights we DNF'd it a while ago, but c'mon Civil War and nativity do NOT mix because history! Polaris is Where You'll Find Me is probably a holiday film original fanfic worth reading. Welcome to Christmas, CA - the diner story was classy. Star of Bethlehem... I don't find a country story to deal with like this before. It was a variety mix to it, so I finished the book on NYE, so... yay! If you want to read this like I did, I suggest Let It Snow before.

First time reading a short story collection. I really enjoyed the experience, but I didn't really enjoy all stories the same way.

Midnights by Rainbow Rowell: 5/5
The Lady and The Fox by Kelly Link: 2/5
Angels In The Snow by Matt de la Peña: 4/5
Polaris Is Where You’ll Find Me by Jenny Han: 4/5
It’s a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown by Stephanie Perkins: 4/5
Your Temporary Santa by David Levithan: 3/5
Krampuslauf by Holly Black: 1/5 (didn't finish this one)
What The Hell Have You Done, Sophie Roth? by Gayle Forman: 4/5
Beer Buckets and Baby Jesus by Myra McEntire: 3/5
Welcome To Christmas, CA by Kiersten White: 3/5
Star of Bethlehem by Ally Carter: 3/5
The Girl Who Woke The Dreamer by Laini Taylor: 1/5 (couldn't finish this one either, way too weird)

The stories that make up this collection are all over the place. Some of the stories are really endearing, with vivid characters. There are a few stories that made me wish the short stories were turned into books so I could keep reading about these characters. However, a lot of the stories just seemed strange for the sake of being strange and were hard to get through. Overall, there were too many stories that dragged down the entire collection.

I like that there is ethnic and class diversity among the characters.

Very well done. All these novella's are put together nicely and tell a great story in only 10 pages! I'd definitely recommend this book to someone looking for something to read over winter break!

I enjoyed reading all the stories. My favourites were:
Midnights by Rainbow Rowell, a lovely cute peice of fluff to start of the collection.
It's A Yuletide Miracle Charlie Brown by Stephanie Perkins, my favourite relationship, and situation.
Welcome to Christmas, CA by Kiersten White, I am a sucker for food and cuteness and the family moments are wonderful.
The Girl Who Woke the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, all the other stories are like little kids playing in the snow compared to Laini's elegant magestic story, very very beautiful writing.

I also really liked Holly Black's Krampuslauf and Gayle Foreman's What the Hell have you done Sophie Roth?

The whole collection was great though and I would read all of them. I also think this book would be a nice holiday tradition in the Christmases to come.

Listened to this book on audio, and I am in love. These stories are magical and beautiful, just like Christmas ought to be. I recommend this to any old grinch like me who needs a boost of Christmas spirit!
