Might as well read a childrens book or a comic version of Coolidge's life, as you will find out as much as this biography has to offer. This kind of fluff biograph represents new style of revisionist history to try to erase the direct blame for Coolidge being the president most responsible for the Great Depression. This book is triumph of PR spin that whitewashes one of the most lazy worthless presidents of modern US history.

What a triumph for Amity Shlaes ... Silent Cal is not so silent! This a comprehensive biography that showcases the obscure (almost forgotten) President and explains the people and events that shaped his views and actions. He understood the power of the Presidency and the importance of using that power sparingly and judiciously. What a great role model of leadership for the 21st century.
Coolidge: It is difficult for men in high office to avoid the malady of self-delusion. They are always surrounded by worshipers. They are constantly, and for the most part sincerely, assured of their greatness.

Excellent read for someone like me who thought that the Presidents between Wilson and FDR were just keeping the White House warm. Also a very intimate portrait of an All-American New Englander, his family, political allies and adversaries.

A good and well written biography of a unappreciated and little known President.
