After 4 months, I still think about this book: the nuances, the fantasy, and the characters. The Library at Mount Char leads you through a fantastically unpredictable, funny and cruel story and leaves you with a resolution that is filled…
This is the kind of book you'll never forget about. The journey is bewildering, dark, and delightfully funny. Be warned, the horror doesn't creep up on you - it bulldozes through. I highly recommend the audiobook!

Very dark, gory, disturbing, and yet often rip-roaring hilarious -- a totally original take on fantasy/horror "secret society/dark academia" that will leave you in a constant state of whiplash. I mean it: this was one of the most truly…

While entertaining, this book reads like a YA novel but throws in excessive swearing and violence to assure you that it's "for adults". Half the characters are caricatures that make the story feel like a bad action movie. The rape of the…

The Library at Mount Char is the coolest book I've read in a long time. It's incredibly unique and the journey into the world of the "Librarians" is unreal. The plot is unpredictable and surprising - the subject matter can be really dark…

This is a strangely compelling book. It's very slow-paced, for the most part, but the cast of characters it assembles are interesting, and I'm a sucker for cool magic systems. The Library at Mount Char is worth reading if you enjoy weird…

I HATED this book. It carried this hopeless-end-of-the-world tone throughout. It was dark, cruel and grotesquely violent and gory. Also it contained violent sexual assault, as if that's what I want to be reading about in my spare time. Do…

Somewhat memorable in that it feels like it's going to end up being a lot better than it actually ends up being, but overall I found that this book was rather overhyped. It's got some unique ideas, I'll give it that, but it otherwise felt…

This book was well written, carefully plotted and contained many twists I didn't see coming. Although I do think he made a few things a bit too obvious. I would definitely recommend this bock to people who like science fiction. It reminds…

Great imagination.
A progression from a mid level magical setting to ultimately an eye-popping level, world and mind altering super bang.
It does swing back and forth a bit from comic quirkiness to heart-rending seriousness, but it's…

Park reality at the door before you curl up with this story. This book really deserves a second reading. It has one zany scene after another and in the first reading, you're attention is used up by trying to figure everything out. You end…

A mix between horror- urban fantasy and science fiction, The Library at Mount Char is a very unique story. It was dark and at times disturbing but so so good. I listened to the audio book and I found it to be excellent narration. It's hard…

A brutal and bizarre novel that will challenge your sensibilities, subvert your expectations, and ultimately make a bit of sense. If you've got a taste for the weird and can stomach the language and violence cranked to 11 for the whole…
This was the craziest adventure that I have ever been on. This story is violent and gruesome and yet at times laugh out loud funny. I recommended it to a few like minded friends and they all enjoyed it thoroughly. One of the most memorable…
The book creates its own mythology and deeper hidden world under our own that is unique and surprises. (analogous world building might be Amber , Umber, Lovecraft, etc.) I really enjoyed the lions.

Was completely confused the first 75 pages of the book not understanding "The Library" then an encounter happened between Steve and Carolyn which was somewhat easy to follow as Steve had nothing to do with "The Library". The book…

Imagine if Joe Hill wrote a book for Neil Gaiman. Magic, language, a lot of violence, but an intriguing storyline to pull it along. You won't believe this one is written by a guy who's usual fare is Linux manuals.

One of the most creative pan-genre genre novels I’ve read in a long while. Probably appealing to fans of China Mieville and other weird fiction authors. Not perfect, but a pretty fine read.
